Simulating Us 

I talked about the value of variations before. Every type of variation in lifestyle, culture, thoughts, and intersections of self are all meaningful. If we pair this up with programs that simulate circumstances or lifestyles we have never partook in, it could create a new portal for increasing empathy. There has been news about making simulations that are designed to make us feel what people feel in their own lives, their own abilities as well as inabilities. It also brings us closer together as a collective, letting us be more aware of their needs. We could make simulations programs that show us the lifestyle of a firefighter, someone working in the ER, or even someone who’s in a wheelchair. It evokes stronger emotions in us and allows us the greater gift of becoming one in our humanity. Being able to feel those intricate moments of when someone’s in a crisis or struggling to transport themselves places allows us to share space with people who are forced to be in that lifestyle. We might never fully understand their perspective on certain circumstances, but we can understand them to the best of our ability. 

The more fun and interesting part about AI is the fact that we can make a video based on someone living through the Great Depression or during the times when the Industrial Revolution was booming. It is an interesting perspective to think about, to finally be able to paint a picture of how they dressed, what they did, and what the environment looked like. It definitely allows us to step into history like that one episode of Doctor Who where we got to see Van Gogh witnessing his paintings in the museum. What is even more intriguing is the fact that we can combine our lingo with theirs, bringing together our current generation with their older generation. It gives a place for us to see history emphasized and modernized. It could even grow our interest in learning about different historical events which helps us become more knowledgeable about our world. 

Seeing those programs and videos come to life adds more to our humanity. We become more reflective and responsive because of them.
