Unconditionally Present

Carl Rogers of the Humanistic field of Psychology coins the term unconditional positive regard. Unconditional positive regard is where we completely love the person despite what they do or say. It is a difficult element to satisfy nowadays, yet it is still very possible. Many of us have an innate desire for unconditional love, thinking that there can be a permanent solution to whatever restriction we are dealing with for the time being. That is not the case though. George Price who figured out that our genes are selfish and not unconditionally loving for the sole purpose of it had a hard time with his own formula. He was in denial, could not fully accept that there is no unconditional love without a substantial condition. In the societal realm, there is a condition for everything, but it is meant to be an applicable, progressive aspect of the humanistic experience. These are only the fundamentals, but Price was distraught. He went to extremes to prove there was indeed altruism or even selflessness. He decided to be completely selfless, letting homeless people live in his house, gathering the sources they need. It was a faulty experiment because he forgot or was blinded by the fact that his survival would come first even if he wanted to be the ideal, unconditional loving individual he could strive to be. He forgot about duality. A brilliant man who had no prior knowledge of Darwin eventually finds himself in the same state as the people he brought in: homeless. He decided to end his life. The concept of duality and restrictions are still very ingrained here, but he still, strives to have unconditional positive regard for others. This is not because it is considered a personal achievement. It is just what is needed, is here. It is meant to be for us. It is a distressing case but there are many cases so similar to Price that is so unknown to us, yet if we do have a collective unconscious, then we all know the truth somehow.
